Mansory unveils monstrous new Mercedes coupe

Mercedes' AMG performance range is not exactly what you'd call restrained, with most being fitted with thumping V8 engines and blessed with the ability to turn tyres into smoke at the mere twitch of a big toe.

However, for some, the 576bhp offered by the brand's range-topping S63 AMG Coupe just isn't enough. For these clearly unhinged individuals, Swiss tuner Mansory has the answer in the form of its 888bhp S63 Coupe Diamond Edition.

Yes, that's right, the four-seater luxury GT pictured above boasts similar levels of power to the current crop of hybrid hypercars from McLaren and Porsche. And, with (an electronically limited!) 1,300Nm of torque, it has more pulling power than the mighty Bugatti Veyron.

To get such power from the car's standard 5.5-litre turbocharged V8, Mansory has replaced nearly everything from the connecting rods to the crankshaft, as well as the turbos, with much beefier items. The result are gains of 311bhp - or in other words, more power than a Porsche Cayman.

Performance figures are also suitably impressive, with the Mansory S63 able to crack the 0-62mph sprint in 3.3 seconds and accelerating on to an electronically limited top speed of 186mph.

And, while it wears enormous 22-inch alloy wheels, matt paint and an aggressive body kit, the new S63 is rather restrained in the styling department compared to some of Mansory's wilder creations. Though, if you've got the cash to buy one, you're not likely to bat an eyelid at the additional cost of slathering the interior in diamante and alligator leather.
