Mazda has confirmed full price and specification details for its all-new MX-5 roadster. It goes on sale this month, priced from £18,495 to £23,295.
The new model, which, thanks to a careful weight saving regimen, tips the scales at around 1,000kg, should have the fine balance of poise and performance that made its predecessors such appealing driver's cars.
Buyers will get a choice of 129bhp 1.5 and 158bhp 2.0-litre petrol engines, both of which send power to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual gearbox.
Five trim levels are offered, with even base-spec SE models generously equipped with air conditioning, LED headlights and alloy wheels as standard. SE-L models are further equipped with daytime running lights, climate control, cruise control, DAB digital radio, Bluetooth connectivity and a touchscreen media system.
Step up to Sport models and you'll get upgraded Bilstein dampers, automatic lights, heated leather seats, an uprated stereo and keyless entry. Topping the range are SE-L Nav and Sport Nav, which, as their name suggests, add sat nav for a further £500.
The new Mazda MX-5 will make its public debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in June.
