Dutch sports car manufacturer Donkervoort has unveiled a brand new special edition of its sole model, the D8 GTO.
Called the D8 GTO Bare Naked Carbon Edition (snappy, no?), the new model features a body constructed entirely of carbon fibre, which – for ultimate pub bragging rights – is visible, having been finished with a clear lacquer instead of paint.
Buyers will be able to specify both matte and gloss finishes, as well as the option of specifying the coating with a coloured tint.
It isn't just a cosmetic upgrade, however. Using the reinforced plastic wonder material has made the car's chassis much stronger and lowers the weight from the (not exactly hefty) 695kg of the standard GTO, which features carbon fibre in 90 per cent of its body panels.
This new limited-run model features no mechanical upgrades, but with a 375bhp 2.5-litre turbocharged Audi engine under the bonnet, buyers won't be left wanting. 0-62mph occurs in a blistering 2.8 seconds, while 0-125mph takes just 8.6 seconds.
Inside the minimalist, driver-focussed cabin, there is further use of carbon fibre with everything from the roll bar to the ignition housing trimming in the material.
Donkervoort has released a video detailing the construction of its new special edition, which you can view below.
