Following claims that the ex-Top Gear front man Jeremy Clarkson is something of a prima donna to work with, the backstage rider for the presenters at the Top Gear Live shows has been leaked by the MailOnline.
Presenter Jeremy Clarkson, who was instrumental in turning around the fortunes of Top Gear when it was relaunched in 2002, has been in the news for all the wrong reasons recently, following his sacking last week, after he punched one of the show's producers in a row over catering arrangements.
Food and drink also feature heavily in the three-page rider issued to keep Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May happy at the Top Gear Live shows, with more than 20 bottles of wine and champagne – with Veuve Clicquot Champagne, Cloudy Bay Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc and Clarkson-favourite Chateau Leoube rose all requested – steak knives and even Scrabble and Pictionary asked for, reports The Independent.
The trio also demanded 24 bottles of Peroni, Bombay Sapphire gin along with the other ingredients needed to make gin and tonics, and a fridge with at least four shelves for the green room for shows in Norway, which were scheduled to start on March 29. The green room should also be very close to a McDonalds, the rider continues, saying: "THEY WILL ASK FOR THIS".
This wasn't the end of the strange requests, however, with linen-covered tables – preferably covered in green plants – Sky TV, a DVD player, iPod dock, a sofa large enough to seat six, including "one of whom is 6ft 3in and likes to lie down" and a Playstation 3 with a copy of Call of Duty all on the list.
According to a Top Gear Live source, "All three presents have their eclectic tastes and they certainly know what they want," reports The Independent.
It's fair to say that Clarkson can be "a little bit of a Prima Donna at times," the source continued.
