Rallying has always been one of the most exciting motorsports to watch, with drivers having to dodge unyielding trees, huge chasms, unhinged course-lining spectators and massive jumps. Most scary of all, however, are the lakes; just in case you needed reminding, cars don't float.

While water splashes may leave hardened rallyists unfazed, the lake in this video is slightly more daunting. Appearing in the 2015 Rally Guanajuato Mexico, Ott Tanak and co-driver Raigo Molder can confirm just how daunting, after Tanak lost control of the pair's Ford Fiesta RS, rolling it into the deep body of water just metres from the edge of the course.

Braking hard into a dip on the circuit, the car's front right suspension is damaged, giving the Estonian little chance to slow the car and steer around the next corner. Careering over a steep drop at the side of the road, the Fiesta rolls completely, before landing in the water. Amazingly, both men escaped uninjured.

Talking about the incident afterwards, Estonian Tanak said: "Luckily the car landed on its wheels but the water was so deep that the car sank really fast. As soon as we opened the doors the car was gone in just a few seconds.

"I also had a problem with my intercom wire because it didn't come loose and was dragging me under the water."
