Ford has released a new teaser video of its forthcoming Focus RS hot hatch, ahead of the model's official unveiling on February 3.
Filmed taking to the track in both the USA and Ford's Lommel proving ground in Belgium, the development prototype shown wears heavy camouflage, though it gives a taste of the dynamic prowess we can expect from this highly anticipated performance model.
The RS eschews the 2.0-litre turbocharged 'EcoBoost' unit from the Focus ST – currently the most powerful Focus available – for a larger 2.3-litre unit, shared with the new Ford Mustang, with an expected power output of 330bhp.
This would put the RS up against powerful premium rivals from Audi, BMW and Mercedes. However, unlike its German competition, the RS will be front-wheel-drive and is expected to be much cheaper, with a sticker price of under £30,000.
This third generation Focus RS will see out production of the current model upon its launch in 2016. The fourth generation Focus is due to be launched in 2017/18.
