The McLaren P1 is not a car that needed more performance. But that hasn't stopped the engineers at McLaren from getting their spanners out and making the P1 even more hardcore, with a lightweight track special P1 GTR, which is set to debut at the upcoming Geneva motor show.

With no less than 986bhp from the 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8 and electric motor combo this machine should be pretty speedy. Expect acceleration times a notch quicker than the 'standard' car's already eye-blurringly fast nought to 62mph time of 2.8 seconds and nought to 186mph time of just 16.5 seconds.

Helping to keep this thing on the road is lowered fixed suspension, a whopping great rear wing, a wider track and a number of other aerodynamic tweaks, plus 19-inch alloys shod with bespoke slick tyres. True to its track-only billing and extensive on-track testing across Europe and the Middle East, we expect the P1 GTR to be pretty impressive on track. You may need to reinforce your internal organs before you go for a blast, however.
