The launch of Ferrari's F12 supercar was something of a curious affair. After the hype and media fanfare that surrounds any new model bearing the prancing stallion, the furore quietened somewhat, as it quickly became apparent that this new model – Ferrari's most powerful series production car ever – demanded superhuman driving skills to get the best out of it.
Now, for the first time, we're seeing what the car can do when such a driver takes to the wheel, as Auto Express journalist Chris Ebbs sits in the passenger seat alongside Ferrari F1 driver Kimi Raikkonen.
"As a novice track driver, I'd come along to get some expert tuition in how to handle a supercar from Ferrari's instructors. The day of tuition had gone well, then, over a couple of laps, Kimi Raikkonen proceeded to show me how little I really knew," said Ebbs.
Raikkonen - known for being a man of few words - is surprisingly chatty throughout the lap and is clearly enjoying tearing up the track in the F12.
From the moment they set off, you can see via the speedometer that he's thoroughly committed throughout. He can be even seen correcting the supercar with just his left hand as it drifts around the corners, so that he can change up a gear mid-slide with his right.
