Infiniti Q50 Eau Rouge meets its namesake at Spa-Francorchamps

Infiniti Q50, Eau Rouge, Spa-Francorchamps

When it comes to tricky corners on race tracks around the world, 'Eau Rouge' at Belgium's Spa-Francorchamps circuit is right up there. This corkscrewing left-right-hand, uphill bend puts even the best drivers to the test.

In fact, it's so demanding that Infiniti has decided to name a car after it – and attempted to take on Jaguar at its own cinematic promo-video game. To cut to the chase, Jaguar has nothing to worry about. As for whether Jaguar should worry about Infiniti's 560bhp Q50 Eau Rouge stealing its sales, that remains to be seen.

This unfathomable promo-fest pits F1 supremo Sebastian Vettel (so far, so normal), against Pan Xioting (the nine-ball world champion snooker player, no less) and Parker Kligerman (a 23-year-old Connecticut NASCAR driver) to see who can power the Q50 Eau Rouge fastest around the corner it's named after.

Yep, you guessed it, the F1 driver wins this one. The bigger surprise is that the snooker player outclasses the NASCAR driver on the challenging bend. So what does the 3.8-litre twin-turbo supersaloon have to offer well-heeled car buyers? Er dunno. The video neglected to cover that bit...

We got much more sense from Sebastian Vettel during our passenger ride with him earlier this year at the Canadian Grand Prix. Here's our review of the standard Infiniti Q50.
