A young man who drove his girlfriend's car onto a circuit during a race has been charged with causing a public nuisance after footage of his antics appeared on YouTube. Jack Cottle, 21, was arrested in June on suspicion of false imprisonment after driving onto the live track at the former Formula 1 circuit at Brands Hatch with several passengers on board.
The man drove his girlfriend's white VW Polo onto the track in the middle of a Fun Cup race at the circuit, police said. Cottle from East Sussex was charged at a Kent police station on Monday night when he answered bail and will appear at Sevenoaks Magistrates' Court on September 22, a police spokesperson told Yahoo.
The 21-year-old had driven through the pit lane and onto the track. The female front passenger starts pleading with him to stop, as someone sitting in one of the rear seats films.
Motorsport commentator Will Buxton said on Twitter: "The driver may be a complete idiot, but he should never have got even close to the paddock, let alone the pit lane or track."
