Fastest motorists caught on A roads rather than motorways

You may expect the biggest speeding offences to take place on motorways, but 19 of the top 20 fastest motorists caught in Scotland were driving on A roads. Topping the list for the highest speeds recorded by police, was a driver who hit 139mph on a 60mph stretch of carriageway, figures obtained by road safety charity, the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM), reveal.
