Bird stampede halts traffic in Thailand

We Brits don't have much to worry about when driving down country lanes. Aside from the odd stray deer and occasional dogger, our twisty lanes are generally free from hazards. Motorists in Thailand on the other hand, have things slightly different, as one driver proved when he was brought to halt on a country road after tens of thousands of ducks began a stampede.

The awesome sight was caught on camera by driver Jack Saranthat who was forced to stop driving during the incident, which occurred in the Bang Len district of the country.

It later emerged that the mass movement was not a freak occurrence, but merely a farmer herding his property – much like sheep – from one patch of land to another in the search for food.

However, Mr Saranthat initially thought it was a duck revolt.

"I'm not sure why these ducks are in revolt," the Bangkok Post reports him saying on the video.

"You can see the great mass of ducks swarming on the road. They have now occupied the area entirely."
