Hot Range Rover Sport teased in new videos

Range Rover Sport

Land Rover has released a brace of teaser videos, hinting at the performance of the forthcoming high-performance version of its Range Rover Sport.

Little is given away in the footage, with viewers given only the merest glimpse of the car itself. However, motorsport fans will instantly recognise the location as the fearsome Nurburgring Nordschliefe racetrack, the testing ground for many of the world's top-flight supercars.

The videos also showcase the car's evocative exhaust noise, suggesting that it will be fitted with a re-worked version of the 5.0-litre supercharged V8 motor that currently resides in the top-of-the-range model, as well as the Jaguar XJR and XFR-S.

However, where that engine develops 510bhp, the revised version is expected to put out at least 542bp, courtesy of fettling by Jaguar Land Rover's new Special Operations Division.

With this additional power, the new Range Rover Sport model could manage the 0-62mph sprint in as little as 4.5 seconds, reports Autocar – a time which would see it rival conventional sports cars, and not just performance rivals in the SUV sector.

The new model is expected to reach UK showrooms by the end of the year, after an expected debut at this month's Goodwood Festival of Speed. If you can't wait that long, hit play below, turn up your speakers and savour that V8 bellow.
