When you spend £370,000 on a beast of an off-road machine, you expect it to handle the tough terrain. Especially when it has six wheels.
But one Kuwaiti Mercedes G63 AMG 6x6 owner was left stranded and red faced when an apparent flat tyre left the machine bogged on a busy beach.
Details are scarce at the moment but World Car Fans claims that one of its avid readers submitted the footage, which shows the 5.5-litre V8-engined monster being towed out of deep sand by what appears to be a digger.
Owners of the insane mud-munching machine part with the eye-watering price tag because the G63 AMG 6x6 is widely regarded as one of the most capable off-road vehicles available to man.
It features six driven wheels, low range gearing, five differential locks and gigantic 37-inch wheels. Based on the military-spec G320 CDI 6x6, the AMG iterant cranks up the performance with a 536bhp AMG-tuned V8 engine, which Mercedes says is "the last word in forward-thrusting power for the beaten track".
The wheels are also shod in special tyres, which feature a bespoke 'bead' design to protect against punctures. Unfortunately, the innovation didn't appear to be working on the fateful day the 6x6 got stuck.
The post added: "There seems to be a lot of debris on the beach which probably caused the flat tire (sic) although even with only five working tires we wouldn't have expected to see the G63 AMG 6x6 in such an embarrassing situation."
