A heavily customised 2013 Ford Mustang from the recent Need for Speed film has gone under the hammer in Palm Beach, Florida - raising $300,000 for charity.
> The Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach Auction held earlier this month proudly offered the Ford Mustang GT, which had undergone some serious cosmetic alterations to make it fit in with the Need for Speed, road-racing crowd.
A wealthy businessman pledged a staggering $300,000 for the vehicle, which despite boasting a custom bodykit, wider front bumper and 22-inch alloy wheels, was actually only worth around $55,000 when new.
Regardless, all profits made on the auction went to the Edith and Benson Ford Heart and Vascular Institute – a Ford funded institute that researches complex heart and vascular issues.
The Mustang was said to develop around 900bhp in the movie but in real life, it's still producing 418bhp from its 5.0-litre V8.
