Kelly Brook's boyfriend crashes van full of dead badgers

David McIntosh, the on-off boyfriend of model Kelly Brook, has pleaded guilty to driving without due care and attention after crashing a van full of dead badgers into a bus stop.

The bodybuilder and former 'Gladiators' star had been hired by a private company to transport the badger carcasses for disposal, following last year's cull.

The former Royal Marine wrote a letter to Stroud Magistrates' court, explaining that the accident occurred after the radio he had been given to receive messages from the police had fallen under the van's foot pedals.

McIntosh said: "I was carrying badger carcasses to the furnace as I was involved in the cull," reported The Express.

"The radio was always kept in the vehicle on the dashboard so we could easily hear and keep up with police as to where the protesters were.

"It was blocking the clutch and the brake. Before I retrieved it I was heading off the road. I started to brake but it was too late."

However, Magistrates heard from a witness who was travelling in the van, that McIntosh fell asleep during the night shift in Gloucester city centre.

"I can't say if he was asleep or not, but when I looked at David both of his hands were on the wheel, but his head was on his chest. I believe his eyes were shut," passenger John Parker told the court, The Express reports.

McIntosh later admitted driving without due care and attention, and driving otherwise than in accordance with his licence during the incident, which occurred in the early hours of September 29 2013.

The 28-year-old was unqualified for driving the van, after previously having his licence for that class of vehicle suspended in 2005 for running a red light.

He was handed six penalty points, fined £91 and ordered to pay £30 in costs and a £20 victim surcharge. His current unemployment was taken into account by Magistrates when the fine amount was set.
