The German marque has created an innovative short film that allows F1 fans to get inside the cockpit of the 2014 Mercedes-Benz turbocharged V6 Formula 1 car while it attacks an overcast Silverstone circtuit.
The ace six-camera set-up has recorded a hot lap in full 360-degrees, so viewers can spin the camera angle and get an unparalleled insight into the speed and forces involved in piloting these extreme machines.
Your host for the lap is a certain Nico Rosberg in his new Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 W05 that is turning a wheel on the blacktop for the very first time ahead of the upcoming F1 season.
Lewis Hamilton also had a go, as he took to the track at the wheel of a 5.5-litre bi-turbo E 63 AMG S Estate before being chased down by an E 63 AMG S Saloon. The results – also filmed using the 360 degree technology – are predictably smoky.
This year sees one of the biggest and most challenging rule changes to hit the sport in recent years, as cars are now powered by extremely powerful yet efficient turbocharged 1.6-litre, V6 power units taking over from the V8 engines of last season.
And now watch Lewis charging Silverstone in an E 63 AMG S Estate below:
