Ken Block unveils awesome new RaptorTRAX project

Updated:

Clearly bored of souping-up his Ford Fiesta and burning rubber on the streets of San Francisco, serial tyre-shredder Ken Block has turned his attention to the mountains in his latest project.

Teased earlier this week, we can now reveal the full extent of the eye-popping RaptorTRAX project that sees Block take a standard Ford F150 Raptor pick-up truck and slap a highly-tuned 6.2-litre V8 under the bonnet. All four wheels have also been replaced with Mattracks, a sort of military-grade snowshoe.

Ken has revealed that the insane machine will also be fitted with snowboard racks, a high-powered winch, storage for snacks and supplies and an exterior sound system that will provide the soundtrack to lengthy off piste freestyle snowboard sessions.

"This project is something I've had in my head for a while now," Block noted on his blog.

"I absolutely love my daily driver Ford Raptor, especially since I live out here in the mountains of Park City, so to build out this mountain assault vehicle with a Raptor as the base platform made total sense to me. It's an absolute beast of a machine and I'm stoked with how it's turned out. Next up is for me to take it deep into the backcountry ASAP to help me and some friends slay some powder on our snowboards."

There isn't any news just yet on top speeds or acceleration times but we know that if Ken Block has anything to do with it, performance figures will be on the 'nerve-shredding' end of the scale.

The vehicle will be on display at the Winter X-Games in Aspen, Colorado later this week but definitely stay tuned; we could be in for a seriously snowy Gymnkhana video in the near future.
