The Swedish manufacturer has finally confirmed that it will make the ultra-hot V60 Polestar estate, ending months of speculation.
The V60, tuned by performance engineering specialists Polestar, will go on sale in a number of countries - including the UK, Canada, Japan and the United States – boasting a turbocharged T6 engine that produces around 350bhp.
Strictly a limited edition proposition, the Polestar V60 model will be on sale through normal Volvo dealerships early next year and each model will come with a number of striking features that mark it out from the crowd of other Volvo estates.
On the outside, the model will feature front splitters that optimise the airflow underneath the car, as well as a new rear spoiler and diffusor, increasing downforce and therefore improving cornering abilities.
A Volvo spokesperson also revealed that, "the interior has been reworked with new details, materials and Polestar colours, such as the steering wheel, seats and more, with the sole purpose of increasing driver support and control."
Performance figures are impressive, with the 0-62mph sprint time taking just 4.9 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 155mph.
Christian Dahl, CEO of Polestar, said: "With the introduction of the V60 model, we are proud to continue the heritage of fast Volvo estates like the racing 850 BTCC, a tradition deeply rooted among Volvo enthusiasts."
