Porsche is out to prove that its upcoming baby SUV isn't simply a vehicle to transport well-heeled mothers and their children to school and back.
The Macan has already been filmed tackling rugged desert terrain and traversing tricky mountain passes but now the German marque has highlighted another string to the SUV's impressive bow – a rather fruity exhaust note.
A Facebook post by the German marque said: "Curious about the sound of the new Porsche Macan? Follow the link, sit back, enjoy."
The link then features the rich and rasping sound of the Macan's pipes, although Porsche has remained tight-lipped about exactly what engine was featured in the making of the teaser clip.
Regardless, the marque has confirmed that the Macan will return up to 46.3mpg in the most frugal engines and 30.7mpg in the most potent. Emissions are equally impressive, ranging from 159-219g/km.
The SUV will take pride of place on the Porsche stand at the upcoming Los Angeles auto show but reports have already suggested it will be offered with a 338bp twin-turbo 3.0-litre V6 and a twin-turbo 3.6-litre V6 that produces 398bhp.
