A Birmingham man has been discovered driving without a licence for nearly the past four decades.
The unidentified man was stopped on the motorway by police in the Nechells area of Birmingham
He also had no insurance and his car was seized on the spot and impounded.
"He has committed a criminal offence, and the matter will proceed to the courts," said West Midlands Police spokesman.
"We don't know whether the driver had even passed his test."
The Central Motorway Police Group even took to its Twitter account to express its disbelief:
@CMPG Unbelievably, it appears the driver has not held a licence for almost 40 years! You can't hide forever!- CMPG (@CMPG) October 17, 2013
The unlicenced man now faces a £1,000 fine, and a driving ban, as well as being prohibited from obtaining a driving licence for a number of years.
The police confirmed the driver was also reported to the DVLA.
