Seriously ill girl gets a ride in one-off Lamborghini

UK charity Rays of Sunshine has been granting the wishes of seriously ill children for ten years. Now they have pulled out all the stops in giving one young girl her wish to take a ride in a bright pink Lamborghini.

Teaming up with Lamborghini UK and dealership H R Owen, Rays of Sunshine managed to secure a Lamborghini Aventador and subjected it to a lengthy re-spray in vivid candy pink – allegedly the only Aventador in the world to wear such a hue.

Not only that, the charity managed to rope in Top Gear presenter Richard Hammond, to take eight-year-old Emilia on her dream drive.

Greeting Hammond at the door in a bright pink race suit, it's immediately obvious where Emilia's passions lie. After a trundle around town, it's off to the track where Hammond shows her exactly what the Lambo is made of.

It's a heart-warming story which highlights the good work that Rays of Sunshine does. Even Hammond managed to contain his usual shouty-self, presenting a much more calm and pleasant demeanour.

"It was a real privilege to be asked to make a contribution to such an inspiring, positive, unique and uplifting occasion," he commented.

"Emilia was charming and wonderful. There was every chance she could have been shy, but she chatted nonstop. It is truly inspiring how brave people are. Hearty congratulations to Rays of Sunshine for organising yet another unique and special occasion and to H R Owen for pulling out all the stops."
