Car comparison site TootCompare.com has done some digging around the dusty filing cabinets at the Vehicle Operator and Services Agency to find out which makes and models are the most likely to fail their first MOTs.
Modern cars require their first MOT after three years on the road and all of the cars on this list were first registered in 2010 and then tested this year.
TootCompare ignored any low volume models for which there were less than 1,000 tests carried out and instead opted for some of the most popular cars on UK roads today.
Not surprisingly, the French manufacturers live up to their reputations of questionable reliability records with Peugeot, Citroen and Renault propping up the top of the table.
