Volvo stuns with glorious 395bhp Coupe Concept

Car manufacturers are busy gearing up for the upcoming Frankfurt motor show by releasing shadowy teaser images, provocative videos and intriguing web campaigns in an attempt to fire up potential punters.

Volvo has joined in on the antics by unveiling a truly stunning concept that will proudly grace the Scandinavian marque's stand at the show.

The Concept Coupe is designed to showcase Volvo's new Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) platform and a raft of new, more efficient petrol engines.

The all-new underpinning platform will appear on next year's XC90 but news on whether the swooping shape and futuristic lines of this Concept will translate into a production coupe is yet to be confirmed.

As with many concept vehicles, the bold design elements go some way to preview styling touches of future models. So the front end of the Concept coupe strongly suggests a new radiator design with signature headlights that will likely become a staple for many Volvo products.

Inside, the Concept pushes the boundaries of automotive technology with a digital dashboard, almost holographic dials and the ability to introduce elements of autonomous driving.

The Coupe is powered by a new turbocharged and supercharged 2-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine that powers the front wheels.

Power is said to be around the 400bhp mark and torque figures look likely to hover around the 600Nm mark.

The Concept coupe will be the first of several Volvo concepts to be unveiled over the coming months that aim to showcase future models.
