Love it or loathe it, the Grand Theft Auto franchise is a gaming entity that transcends the dimly lit bedrooms of teenage boys and screeches into popular culture like a stolen motorbike.
It has been bashed by media commentators who feel the violence portrayed within the games (the ability to murder a prostitute, for example) can have an adverse effect on the often young minds playing the game but there's no denying it is a feat of utter genius with regards to its depth and film-like qualities.
That genius is about to reach new levels in the fifth installment as the preview video below quite clearly points out. You didn't think the gaming environments could get any bigger? Think again, hombre.
GTA 5 will not only allow gamers to control multiple characters across interweaving storylines but also allow button bashers to skydive, cycle, run, shoot and practically live out a virtual existence.
To top things off, Rockstar Games has just announced a deeper and improved online game element, so players will never run out of things to do or discover.
Grand Theft Auto V will be released on September 17 - we're certainly looking forward to it!
And then check out the online modes...
