Alessandro Pier Guidi may not be as famous a name in racing as, say, Lewis Hamilton or Michael Schumacher but after witnessing his skills at the weekend, he may just deserve a place in the hall of fame.
Competing in this weekend's Spa 24 Hours race, Pier Guidi nearly took out a large percentage of the pack of GT3 racers as the back end of his powerful Ferrari 458 stepped out, sending him into a massive, smoky spin.
Amazingly, his quick thinking and honed driving skills kicked in, resulting in some expert steering wheel shuffling that resulted in the car spinning 360-degrees off the track and back on again.
The wayward Fezza poured smoke from its tyres as Pier Guidi dabbed at the brakes but he somehow managed to wrestle the Prancing Horse back into the pack of racers without clipping any of his fellow competitors.
Those that like to witness a big crash will be disappointed but readers who appreciate some serious driving skills will be suitably impressed.
On a separate note, the Nissan GT Academy athletes achieved an incredible feat by piloting the No. 35 Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3 to third place overall. An amazing achievement considering Lucas Ordonez, Jann Mardenborough, Wolfgang Reip and Peter Pyzera were all playing video games in their bedrooms not so long ago.
