Thug in flatbed truck rams brand new BMW X5 police vehicle

One superpower the police would no doubt like to be fitted out with is the ability to predict the future, but it seems West Midlands Police officers Dal Nijjar and Gareth Phillips already possess some kind of psychic prowess.

The two officers were called out to pursue disqualified driver Chad Harrison in their brand new high-spec BMW X5 vehicle as he raced along country lanes in a flatbed truck.

One of the officers can be heard saying, "If he rams us, I'm having a bad neck" as the on-board video camera captures the high-speed pursuit and the officer's subsequent whiplash joke.

Minutes later, thug Harrison appears to slow down just before he slips the flatbed into reverse and slams into the brand new, 13-plate X5 not once but twice.

He then speeds off on the single-track lane near the A449 in Stourbridge, West Midlands, hoping to leave the brand new £40,000 police car in his wake.

But his anti-social antics weren't enough to disable the X5, which was on its first emergency call out and only had 400 miles on the clock, as the 4x4 soldiered on and continued to pursue Harrison for a further 20 miles.

The police helicopter was called out to offer assistance and after crashing into the gates of Hunts Mill Nature Reserve in Dudley, Harrison tried to escape on foot through woodland.

Harrison was later found by the police helicopter's thermal camera lying low in some bushes, he was soon arrested and admitted to dangerous driving, driving whilst disqualified, failing to stop for police and damaging eight other vehicles during the pursuit.

Last Tuesday, he was jailed for 19 months and handed a seven-year driving ban at Wolverhampton Crown Court.
