The story of Niki Lauda and James Hunt's infamous 1976 world championship rivalry is so packed with twists and turns, we're surprised it has taken this long for a feature-length motion picture to come along.
But A Beautiful Mind director Ron Howard has grabbed the tale by the scruff of its neck - pitched Chris Hemsworth as the charismatic James Hunt and Daniel Brühl as the brooding Niki Lauda – and thrown a typically Hollywood budget at it to ensure the intense competitive spirit is captured on film.
Hunt and Lauda's rivalry included a series of close shaves, life-threatening crashes (for Lauda, at least) and a plethora of regulation breaches that saw Hunt's title hopes dashed on many occasions.
