Rihanna splashes million on rare Mercedes for Chris Brown's birthday

Pop megastar and provocative Tweeter Rihanna has reportedly spent over $1 million on a personalised Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren Stirling Moss for on/off lover Chris Brown.

The car in question is the ultra-exclusive, 640bhp Stirling Moss edition of the famous SLR McLaren that boasts a completely open-top motoring experience and eye-catching side exit exhausts.
Only 75 of the V8 supercars were ever made and Rihanna reportedly spent even more personalising the interior so it features Brown's initials embroidered into the sumptuous red leather upholstery.

The pair have had a turbulent relationship with Chris Brown prosecuted for beating Rihanna back in 2009. The R&B singer had to attend 52 weeks of domestic violence counselling as a result but the pair appear to have turned a new leaf.

The special Stirling Moss edition was hailed as a final hurrah of the now defunct SLR line.

The famous racing driver was involved in the design stages and decided to do away with the roof and the windshield in an attempt to replicate the cars that competed in the Mille Miglia during the 1950s.

Its 5.4-litre V8 engine produces an almighty 641bhp that will propel the machine to 62mph from a standstill in under 3.5 seconds and on to a top speed of 217mph.

Inside, swathes of carbon fibre and beautifully hand-stitched leather cover most surfaces, while the dials, steering wheel and gear lever have been lifted from Mercedes' current flagship supercar, the SLS AMG.

The car was first shown at the Detroit motor show in 2009 where it was said to have a price tag of around €750,000 but due to its rarity, prices have been pushed up to over $1 million.
