The fastest and most agile Range Rover Sport to date will be officially unveiled on March 26 during an innovative presentation.
The new car – teased in the image above – will be driven through Manhattan, New York in a live show that will be broadcast to viewers across the globe via a specially created website.
More Range Rover Sports are sold in New York than anywhere else in the world so Land Rover saw it fitting to launch the long-awaited update of the gas-guzzling Chelsea tractor in the Big Apple.
The new Sport will share the same basic platform as the new Range Rover, meaning it is set to be around 300kg lighter than the outgoing model and this could be the first Range Rover to be offered with a hybrid powertrain.
The new model is also said to be much more sporting in appearance, featuring a more aggressive treatment to the nose and tail, plus sharper roof lines.
Perhaps the biggest difference will be inside as the new Sport will be available with the option of seven seats to increase competitiveness with the likes of the new BMW X5 and Mercedes M Class.
A new 2-litre diesel engine should further increase the Range Rover's chances of cornering the sporty SUV market.
Full details of the all-new Range Rover Sport will be revealed on 26 March at 19:30 EDT (Eastern Daylight Time).
