Humperdinck: Please release me... of my number plate

Engelbert in search of mystery buyers
Legendary crooner Engelbert Humperdinck is once again singing about his wishes to be released, but this time it's not about a woman but a number plate!

Humperdinck, 76, is trying to trace a rich mystery man who offered £2million to buy his personalised number plate "EH1".

The Release Me singer and UK representative of this year's Eurovision Song Contest, said he was approached by "a very nice man from the UAE" when he was parking his posh Rolls-Royce Corniche in London.

The mystery man mentioned to Humperdinck of his wishes to purchase the star's plate for £2million saying he shared the same initials. The interested buyer gave his business card... but now Humperdinck has lost it!

Humperdinck promised to call to "close the deal" but the lost card now means the singer is searching for the rich man.

"His surname was Hussein and obviously his initial must have been E," Humperdinck said.
"So I am asking that, if anyone knows Mr Hussein, can they please contact my London-based record company, Conehead UK, as he had talked me into making the sale and I don't want to disappoint him."

We can't help but think if we were offered £2million for a number plate, we wouldn't let the business card leave our sight. What do you think? Let us know by posting your comments below.
