Audi shows off special sporty Q5 SUV

Audi has filled yet another niche with the limited edition SQ5 TDI exclusive concept.

The mid-size performance SUV is based on the SQ5 TDI; itself the work of performance arm quattro Gmbh and the first S model in Audi's history with a diesel engine.

The 'exclusive concept' showcases new design flourishes in the interior and is finished outside in exclusive 'Aral blue crystal effect' paint work.

Like the standard SQ5 TDI, it has aluminium look door mirrors, obligatory LED daytime running lights and quad exhaust pipes poking from beneath its diffuser styled rear valance.

Just 50 of these posh SQ5 TDIs are up for grabs, priced at €92,000. The non-exclusive SQ5 TDI shares the same 309bhp 3.0-litre bi-turbo V6 diesel motor and will be available to order in the UK later this year for around £44,000.

It covers the 0-62mph dash in 5.1 seconds while electronic nannying limits max speed to 155mph. Audi claim a combined 39.2mpg figure.

Many parents on the school run would undoubtedly love the 'exclusive concept' moniker of this SQ5 TDI and we're sure the flash paintwork is beautiful, but is it worth the considerable premium over the standard car?

We will have to wait for its debut at this year's Paris motor show to find out.
