Ferrari pays tribute to Pininfarina (1926 - 2012)

Updated

Sergio Pininfarina, possibly the most famous car designer in history, died yesterday at the age of 85, drawing tributes from around the world.

The company had been set up by his father, Battista "Pinin" Farina, who later changed the family name to Pininfarina. Sergio became Managing Director in 1961, just as Pininfarina really got into gear, riding the Italian economic miracle of the 1960s ( Italy was growing as strongly as West Germany at the time).
