Thousands of Finnish motorists face driving bans

Updated:
Finnish driving bansAccording to the Finnish Transport Safety Agency (Trafi), an incredible 75,000 drivers have sufficient offences on their licences at the moment, that could equal a ban if they commit any other motoring violations.

In Finland, if a motorist commits four road offences within two years or three within a year, the police can suspend his or her driving licenses for between one to six months.

Most recently, like in the UK, using a mobile phone without a hands-free device has been added to the long list of offences alongside speeding and parking laws.

Along with the police, The Finnish Transport Safety Agency also monitors guilty motorists, advising them when they approach the driving ban threshold.
