Bonhams is marking its inaugural Australian auction with something rather special – a car driven by the late Hollywood actor, Heath Ledger.
It's well known that our Australian cousins love their muscle cars and the Brokeback Mountain star wasn't immune to their charms either. Bonhams Australia has got hold of the Ford Falcon XA 351 Coupé driven by the late film star in the 1999 flick, 'Two Hands'.
After the 1999 film wrapped the car was bought by its director and writer, Gregor Jordan, who kept hold of it until 2004. Currently owned by Sydney-based radio celebrity and comedian Merrick Watts, this classic 1973 coupé is set to go for anywhere between £25,000 and £39,000.
Ford's finest comes powered by a 351cid V8 with an automatic gearbox and recent service records. It has also covered very little mileage in the past few years.
Launched in 1972, the XA was the first Australian designed Falcon and broke with the traditional styling of the previous XW/XY model, ushering in a new era of curves and for the first time, a two-door hardtop coupe. Showing a strong American influence, the hardtop was Ford's belated answer to the runaway success of the Holden Monaro.
