More a case of evolution than revolution, the ninth-generation Honda Civic made its world debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
Whilst it might look similar to the current car, the all-new Civic is actually 20mm lower, 10mm wider and a 30mm shorter.
Don't think that because the new Civic is shorter it's less practical, as the unconfirmed interior dimensions are expected to be largely similar and the boot at 470 litres is class-leading.
Changes under the bonnet include revised versions of the 1.4 and 1.8-litre petrols and the 2.2i-DTEC diesel from the Accord. Each engine boasts better performance, economy and CO2 emissions, with an impressive 110g/km figure for the 2.2-litre diesel.
A new entry-level 1.6-litre diesel will follow in 2012 and prices will be announced when the new Civic goes on sale next month.
