At a time when many motorists are still struggling for cash and the cost of living is spiraling ever higher, buying a new car is probably the last thing on most people's minds.
However, buying a new motor does come with benefits. Not only is it likely to be more reliable, but if it does breakdown you'll be covered by a warranty. New cars are also more fuel efficient – and they're safer too, thanks to advances in technology.
And they don't have to cost the earth – with a host of cracking finance deals available all of the cars you see below can be had for just £99 per month!
Finance: £1,439 (deposit) / 8.69% APR
The Panda is getting a bit long in the tooth – and we've already seen pictures of its replacement – and that adds up to one thing: Great deals to be had now. For your £99 per month you get the 1.2-litre Active model that comes with a CD player and ABS brakes. Spec is basic, though, even a 12v socket is a £50 option!
Finance: £2,791.10 (deposit) / 6.9% APR
The Aygo – sister car to the Peugeot 107 and Citroen C1 – has aged well and in this specification is certainly tempting. This version – the amusingly-named Aygo Go! – comes with sat nav, air con and snazzy alloys. However, it's the most expensive here and you'll need to find a whopping deposit to secure it on a £99 per month deal.
Finance: £2,936.24 (deposit) / 4.9% APR
The Ford Ka is easily the best to drive and the kinetic design still looks fresh. However, for £99 per month you won't get alloys and will have to pay extra for metallic paint. You do get air con, though, as well as heated and powered mirrors. Under the bonnet is an economical 1.2-litre 68bhp unit, but you'll have to make do with only three doors and find a large deposit.
Finance: £1,894.24 (deposit) / 7.9% APR
It's getting a bit long in the tooth, but for many the allure of the VW badge will be enough to tempt them into this rather under-equipped option. The Fox is about as basic as cars get – you don't even get air con – and the three-cylinder 1.2-litre lump is a little on the wheezy side.
Finance: £2,961 (deposit) / 11.9% APR
To get the i10 below the magic £100 mark you'll need a large deposit and will have to sign up to a pretty poor finance rate – but don't let that put you off. The i10 is easily the best-equipped car here and in Blue guise even qualifies for free road tax and congestion charge exemption. The 1.0-litre engine is full of character, the driving position spot on and it's got five doors to top it off. Our pick of the bunch.
