Jaguar XF named 'car of the decade'

Jaguar XF
The Jaguar XF executive saloon has been crowned Auto Express Driver Power car of the decade.

It's the latest trophy for the XF's bulging cabinet, and comes after car weekly Auto Express totted up the results of the late ten years' worth of Driver Power customer surveys. There were 302,051 in total.

At the same time, Lexus picks up the Manufacturer of the Decade prize, awarded for consistently high reliability and customer service ratings from owners, while Hyundai is awarded the oddly specific Much Improved Manufacturer of the Decade.

Jaguar has sold 37,000 XFs in the UK since its 2008 launch, and hopes to boost sales massively with the new 2.2-litre diesel model, which officially hits showrooms tomorrow (1 September 2011).

Theoretically capable of 800 miles on a single tank, the XF 2.2D finally gives Jaguar a proper rival to the top selling BMW 5 Series, the 520d.
