When a driver switches from America's IndyCar series to NASCAR it's not usually that shocking.
But when said driver is Danica Patrick, America's Sexiest Racing Driver (her official title), it's a different story altogether. The 29-year-old race driver and model (of course) has raced in the IndyCar series since 2005 and won a Rookie of the Year trophy for her debut season.
Patrick, who moved to the UK in 1998 to kick of her racing career in Formula Fords and Vauxhalls, hasn't actually won an IndyCar series race, but is nonetheless one of the sport's most marketable stars because, well...you can guess.
Last year she had a go at NASCAR – by far America's most watched motor sport – for the first time, and in March 2011 took the record for the highest race finish for a woman, with a fourth place at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
That convinced her to make the switch to NASCAR full time, putting pen to paper with the GoDaddy team. She'll race in a Chevrolet Impala.
If you've got a spare half an hour to watch a lady racing driver gush about her new paymasters, here's the press conference:
