After it was leaked via a spy video yesterday, Audi has revealed official sketches of a small city car concept that is due to make its debut at the Frankfurt motor show next month.
The Audi urban concept is a two seater, ultra light creation that positions the two occupants next to each other, with the passenger slightly behind the driver.
According to the German manufacturer: "the Audi urban concept combines elements of a racing car, a roadster, a fun car and an urban car into one radical new concept."
Entry to the car is through a large opening over the two seats, with the company saying: "You slide the roof back and climb in over the side." Once in, the back seat is set slightly higher than the front to allow both occupants to see out. The driver can adjust both the steering wheel and the pedals to get into the optimum position.
As is perhaps expected, the urban concept is an electric powered vehicle, with a lithium-ion battery sending the power to two electric motors.
The lightweight construction is aided by a carbon fibre-reinforced polymer (CFRP) composition, while the looks are not derived from any previous Audi. Its sleek body features blinking strips of LED lights around a set of 21-inch wheels.
