This year's Goodwood Revival will pay tribute to the Jaguar E-Type in its 50th year by holding a race of the best examples still remaining.
The Fordwater Trophy race will be contested by a field consisting entirely of E-Types, with 30 of the classic British cars taking to the track, driven by a host of racing legends from past and present.
Gerhard Berger, Jackie Oliver, Jochen Mass, Adrian Newey, Desire Wilson and Tiff Needell are all taking part, as well as touring car legends John Cleland and Anthony Reid, and ex-Jaguar Le Mans winner Andy Wallace.
The race will be a timed 45 minute affair, with driver changes taking place between 15 and 30 minutes in and will be exclusively for E-Types of a sort that raced up until 1966.
Event organisers are also hoping that actor and comedian Rowan Atkinson will take part, although his participation is in doubt after his crash in his McLaren F1 last week.
The race is playing host to six of the 12 E-Type lightweights still in existence, with a further three of the remaining cars on static display at the event.
The Goodwood Revival takes place from 16-18 September and tickets are available by calling +44 (0)1243 755055, emailing email@example.com or visiting www.goodwood.com/motorsport.
