Despite the fact that it missed the sage advice of stuck-in-the-mud expert James May, we thought the second-hand feature that appeared on the last episode of Top Gear was one of the most interesting things the show has done in quite a while.
Predictably, the team at British Car Auctions were also pretty enthusiastic about the programme's acknowledgement that there are some seriously good deals around at the moment for the same price as a brand-new Nissan Pixo.
To illustrate their point, BCA has revealed the top ten used cars for £7,000 that have recently passed under the auctioneer's gavel.

"There is no question that there are some great deals to be had at the moment," said a spokesman for BCA. "And with a little preparation and research, buying a car at auction doesn't have to be an intimidating experience."
That's true, but the list also shows what a lottery a visit to the auction halls can be. We wouldn't touch a six-year-old BMW X5 with 144k on the clock for all the Bratwurst in Munich, but the Mini, Fiat 500 and Alfa Mito are ten times better value than the humble Pixo.
"Armed with a little knowledge, auction buyers can get a great deal right now" continued the BCA spokesman. "Our comprehensive website offers buyers valuable information at the click of a button, allowing them to get an idea of the available stock before they even leave home."
