Sainsbury's is heading into the car insurance market with a new policy that will target Nectar card holders with the promise of a hefty discount on their quote.
Customers that use a Nectar card - Sainsbury's well-known loyalty scheme - will be eligible for a 15 percent discount on their premium and will also earn double Nectar points on their supermarket shopping for two years as a bonus.
Sainsbury's reckons that the points offer equates to an extra one percent off the annual insurance bill for families that regularly spend £100 a week in store.
There are two different policies available - standard and premium. The supermarket claims that they will offer more in the way of bonuses than most policies, with both including a courtesy car, £1,000 key theft cover and no-claims bonus building for both main and named drivers.
Ben Tyte, head of motor insurance, Sainsbury's Finance said: "The family car is vital to most of us, and with the majority of us feeling the pinch when it comes to running them, we're delighted to be able to offer the Sainsbury's shopper the chance to keep the cost of motoring down with a very attractive discount on their car insurance premiums and the ability to save money on their shopping in store and also their fuel."
