Petrov: "I couldn't feel my legs so well"

In the final stage of the Monaco GP, Vitaly Petrov gave everyone a scare when he remained motionless in his cockpit after a collision with Jaime Alguersuari. The Renault driver complained of pains in his left ankle after smashing into a barrier. A hospital check-up later gave the all-clear. "That was a pretty heavy impact, and I couldn't feel my legs so well," said Petrov later.

His legs were trapped in the cockpit, so he asked the medics to hoist him out: "I didn't lose consciousness, but I was in a lot of pain while I was in the car." After a brief stay in hospital, Petrov was fit enough to return to the track. "That's a huge relief for the team," said Technical director James Allison.
