Video: Hyundai's new Veloster rally car takes to the track

Updated

We haven't even had the pleasure of driving Hyundai's Veloster coupe yet, but the manufacturer has already flung the RallyCross version of the car into its competitive debut.

According to reports by our American sister site, the car held its own at the Global RallyCross Championship event and is being primed for a full season of stateside action under the Rhys Millen Racing banner.

The purpose-built racing machine was unveiled at the Chicago motor show and boasts a 500bhp turbocharged 2.0-litre Hyundai lump at its heart. The Veloster is also set to take on the Ford Fiestas of Tanner Foust and Ken Block at this year's Summer X Games.
