Caterham has already sold half of the first year's production run of its new racer, the SP/300R.
The bespoke racing car, which was created in conjunction with Lola, was only launched at the Autosport show in January, but teams and individuals wanting to compete in the new one-make series next year have already snapped up 14 of the 25 due for production.
"We are delighted with the way the car was received at the Autosport show. It's the first new model Caterham has built for 15 years but, even so, we were bowled over by the reaction and the interest, which led to several deposits being placed almost immediately," said Caterham Cars managing director, Ansar Ali.
The field for the one-make championship is already shaping up, with Staffordshire-based Fauldsport snapping up three cars alone.
Ali is confident the rest of the cars will not take long to find owners either, as he said: "There are many more people who have registered their interest in buying the remaining 11 cars so I'd anticipate that our order book will be filled quite soon."
The Caterham-Lola SP/300R costs £60,000 plus tax, and any wannabe racers with some spare cash for buying and running it on the track should head to www.caterham-spr.com or call 01883 333 700 for more details.
