Video at Geneva: Volvo shows 149mpg plug-in hybrid version of V60

Updated

Okay, so it might look like a standard Volvo V60, but in fact this is the world's first diesel plug-in hybrid. Expected to go on sale before the end of 2012, highlights include 149mpg fuel consumption and the fact it can go up to 31 miles solely on electric power.

Not entirely perfect, classic Volvo estate fans are going to be disappointed at the compromised boot space and it's not exactly lightweight at 1800kg either. Still, the ultra-low 49g/km CO2 emission figure and the ability to tow 1800kg might be enough to tempt buyers.
