Just when rivals thought it was safe to enter the mega-hatch turf war, Audi has come out fighting with the mega 335bhp RS version of the A3 Sportback, which was shown for the first time at the Geneva show.
The reason for this amazing power is the 2.5-litre five-cylinder turbocharged engine, which is borrowed from the Audi TT-RS. Thankfully, as with all hot Audi's Quattro four-wheel drive is fitted as standard, so there should be no problem making the most of all those horses.
The engine is mated with seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch transmission with standard launch control function meaning that the RS3 can motor to 62mph in a giant-killing 4.1 seconds, which is as quick as the V8-powered R8 supercar.
