The next generation of Kia Picanto city car has emerged for the first time before it makes its global debut at the Geneva motor show in March.
In a break from its current offering, the new car will be available in a three-door version for the first time, but only for the UK and European markets. The five-door model will continue to be on sale worldwide.
The Korean manufacturer says the Picanto has been completely reengined and now includes the lasted Kia design language which has already appeared on larger models such as the Sportage and Venga. It has also grown in size, both in terms of the wheelbase and the overall length.
The new Picanto will come with four new engines, in 1.0- and 1.2-litre versions, which Kia says will be class leading in terms of its emissions. It is expected that the final CO2 figure will be between 90g/km and 100g/km, meaning that while it will not set new standards it should be up there with the class leaders.
