Manufacturers occasionally release teaser shots of highly anticipated new cars to keep the press and public a fever pitch of speculation and interest. They are rarely enlightening but the level of mocking implied by the word teaser is normally not very high.
But the first shots of the new BMW 1 Series M coupe - a car we're genuinely excited about - really do stick their tongue out at you and thumb their nose while doing so.
It is not so much the car – even with the cloth draped over the body we can tell it will be much like the standard coupe with dramatic flared bits in all the right places.
No, it is the two people that are draping themselves on and around the car, as though they are saying "You want to see more of this, don't you? Well you can't, so there!"
What we do know is that the car will be powered by a breathed-on version of the 3.0-litre straight six from the Z4 sDrive 35is, and will boast something in the region of 350bhp. The pics also show a set of quad exhaust pipes, and large M Division alloy wheels.
Remove the people and it's a mouth-watering slice of M-car heaven. We wait with bated breath.
